Google Analytics and Drupal

Installing the Drupal plugin for Google Analytics was very easy. The hardest part was finding a tutorial for installing Drupal plugins.

A step by step guide is below.

  1. Create a Google Analytics account for your site.
  2. Install the Google Analytics plugin for Drupal.
    wget http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/google_analytics-6.x-1.0.tar.gz
    tar xzf google_analytics-6.x-1.0.tar.gz
    sudo mv google_analytics /var/www/drupal/modules/
    sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/drupal/modules/google_analytics/
  3. Turn on the Google Analytics plugin in the administrative interface for your site.
  4. Configure the Google Analytics plugin in the administrative interface for your site (you will need your Urchin ID from your Google Analytics account).
